SkyeFitness Squad Highlight: Vicki Clay

I’m Vicki- a 52 year old mom of 4 grown children and 2 grandchildren. I work as a Budtender at a cannabis dispensary. I enjoy needle felting, crossword puzzles, hiking with my boyfriend, and animals.

I’ve been a yo-yo dieter my whole life and I’m at the age where the yo-yo is stuck. I’ve also had a couple of significant injuries that sidetracked my fitness goals. A hip and ankle injury, both on my right side. My father passed away a few months ago, after a battle with Parkinson’s that ultimately took away his ability to walk without significant assistance. He said to me, “Get in shape now because it’s too late once you’re my age.”

About 3 months after he passed, I contacted Skye. I had seen her ads in my Facebook feed and she looked so kind and fun. And it’s true!! She really is kind and fun! And patient, and helpful, and she pushes me to do the best I can.

It’s difficult to get up early to dedicate time to working out, but if I don’t do it now, when will I ever? I remember Dad saying to get in shape now, and it encourages me to get out the door! Then when I see Skye, her bright, sunny disposition encourages me to put in my all!

1) Why did you choose in studio personal training as opposed to the millions of free programs online?

I want to be sure I can have guidance on my form and perhaps modifications as needed.

2) What has been your greatest achievement since you've been working out?

I’ve lost 6 pounds in two months plus it doesn’t hurt to go up stairs any more! It used to hurt my lower back and hip.

3) What advice would you give someone who is ready to start working out?

One workout at a time, you will get stronger!

4) What is a fun fact about you we may not know?

Chef Adam Libby is my son!
